September 28th 2010
With the second weekend in a row and two small cool fronts, fishing is off to a great start.Fished with Wayne Cooley Sunday and Monday with South Texas cold front conditions low 70's low 80's by noon 5 to 10 mph out of the north

Started early with spinner baits but soon changed over to Texas rigged mag lizards the fish were eating them up fish are starting to gang up and that is good for the start of Fall man i get all worked up this time of year, the fish here in Falcon Lake just go nuts when the water temperature starts a slow drop.Fished an area about 45 min landed 15 and lot 3 fish this fish got what it takes to throw the bait at you, they were coming out of the water what seamed like 4 ft and if you had any type of slack on your line it was all over.

Wayne was ready the fish that got off and the ones he landed just got him going, moved about 8 miles to another spot and worked the out side edge of a brush line and started with the mag flukes and swim baits located another wolf pack and it was on!!! landed another 20 to 25 fish with one over 8 and a lot of them in the 5 to6 pound range, called it a day about 3;30 pm

Monday was a Great day at Falcon Lake! as soon as we got to our spot Wayne had about a 7 pound fish on and in the boat, he got ready the night before with 7.6 Heavy rod and new line the fish did not stand a chance he landed about 18 bass and then we started flippin heavy brush got 4 more out of it and lost two that just did not want to come up for air!the biggest fish of the day was a 9.12 pound Hawg and no telling how big the ones that got away were two day total was about 70 + fish you loose count when your having a blast.

Lunker Season is October the 1st and Falcon Lake is the place to be give me a call if you would like to fish. Thanks to all and good fishing!!!!!!!!!!!

September 21st 2010
The one thing i like about September is the start of the Hawg season! We will still have days in the 100 deg but we will also have more cold fronts, this last week has been raining and water temp dropped a few deg,man i love fishing in this weather you know the big girls are going to get restless and make the wrong move.

Started Friday with thunderstorms we got on the water around 7 am at the state park started ripping some lips as soon as we got to our spot but it started raining hard and we had to run to another area up the lake, the cloud went around us and we landed a few more fish we got about 15 fish before we got off the lake around 1:30 and it rained hard all the way to town.

Saturday Bob and Jerry got on there best game had 18 great fish in less then 45 minutes and it was on good action till about 9 am we left the area and came back at 2 p.m and the fish were on again landed some fish 3 over 6 two sevens and one close to 8 pounds we fished in the rain but there was no lighting like around noon the day before we fished till 5 p.m and called it a day.

Sunday was no different we started landing fish as soon as we got there the fish seamed to be in schools one area had 2 to 4 pounders but you moved 200 yards and there were the bigger fish mostly heavy 5 to 7 pound fish, you hate to leave fish biting but Jerry and Bob had a plane to catch.

Still have some openings for September drop us a line or email for your next Falcon Lake trip.
I will be working with my Boy and searching for the big bass and the Ducks to hunt!!!!!!

September 16th 2010
Getting all reels ready, new line oiled and check rod eyes, the weather is going to change this week end and the fish are going to gorge, always like it when the high moves on and the low pressure gets near and temperature drops.Mid September is transition time it's like clock work, especially when the lake level starts on a gradual fall its been steady at 304.40 for the last week and it's best when its drops a couple of inches per day it tends to pull fish out of the heavy cover.

It's time for heavy spinnerbaits swim baits and chatter baits, small square bill crankbaits will also work to locate the wolf packs we have a lot of good fish in the 3 to 5 pound range and when you find them you got them fighting for you bait the big fish will start to bunch up also.

Big ribbon tail worms Magnum Flukes with a 1/8 oz weight and swimd over tree tops is also a good way to hang some Hawgs I recommend 20 to 25 pound floro but 50 pound braid will also do the job. Some folks have been fishing Mexico side of the lake it does not matter where you fish, Falcon lake is full of bass you just have to find what they want to eat and pattern for the day, some days they will eat blades then on the next its back to soft plastics. That's why we love the sport it's never the same, fish have a mind of there own and it's us that has to figure them out and then get them in the boat.

If you like to fish Falcon e mail or call us for the Fall Season we have not had any problems and there is a lot of wardens,Border Patrol and the Coast Guard on the lake to make sure everyone is safe,i fish both U.S.A side and Mexico but will only fish U.S.A side till i feel is ok to go across and fish. You dont have to fish mexico side to catch monster bass there is miles of shore line and berry little pressure on Texas side Thanks Again and Good Fishing....

The lake Level is at 304.43 and man that is full been 3 feet over full is like nothing we are use to down here this lake is mainly for irrigation so it 's not often that we have a full lake for 3 years in a roll it dropped to about 278 two years ago but it came up fast and that was in Jun and July but filled up by October, back to the fishing had Barry and Brian and there dad David fished with me this past weekend we had over 70 fish and a lot of Hawgs in the 8 to 9 pound range and this boys are though they did not put on any tape on there hands and they were Raw they liked how this Falcon Bass fight all the way to the boat and then some. September is a great month to fish it can be awesome spinner bait or swim bait bite around all this flooded brush they will nail or just inhale the bait and this will go on through October and November.Hunting Season is the start of my hunt for the big HAWGS and this year is going to be a record breaker year, if you want to experience the bass fishing at its best come and fish falcon lake.Contact me at robertsfishntackle@gmail.com

August was a good month we had a ton of bass in the 4 to 6 pound range with a bunch of heavy 8 and 9'sthe lake level continues to rise it's been creeping up for the last two weeks Amistad's level has not changed mush.September is looking real good spinnerbaits and top water and buzzbaits are going to be working this time of year to locate and catch some good numbers of bass it can can get crazy with all the dragonfly's and bait fish up close to trees bass are going to be ready for an easy meal, we are going to have a record year for Bass,Crappies and Cat fish Falcon Lake has been full for the last three years and we had some good spawns,a lot of the big tournaments are not coming to falcon and they don't know what there going to miss. Falcon is going back to being the best kept secret in bass fishing i have been fishing here for over 40 years and this Lake is best place on Earth!!!!!!
