July 30th 2010
The water level is still in the 300 and that still has a lot of flooded brush to catch some good bass, most fish caught today were with lake fork crawtubes and mag flukes in about 5 to 12 ft of water, the water is starting to look real good and dark just like i like it for swim baits and spinner baits fish are still bunched up but you have to fish slow it's almost the same pattern as two years ago when the water was at this level, got a trip tomorrow and we will keep you posted on the conditions, the lake is fishing big and so is the wind as soon as you start seen white caps dont take a chance get close to your launch ramp the waves will get up to 6 feet in a hurry .thanks and tight lines don't forget to retie after you battle fish in the brush!!!!

July 27th
The lake is still falling and as for the big stomps, most all are left at 309 and the lake is at 305 so the wind blew all to a safe place you can see all kinds of logs on top of brush line and that is a good thing.fished all the way to the mouth of tigers checked a lot of water that i was fishing when the lake was at 303 and caught some bass but most were in 18 to 32 ft of water, with the lake on the fall and PH not stable it will take a few more days for the fish to lock in to areas most are suspended and not far from bait fish, got some on spinner baits slow rolling and some on crank baits but lizards are working the best in the watermelon chart or penutbutter and jelly and junbug red, going to be out tomorrow with Linda and Bud and hope the biguns are hungry, the water claraty is fair to clear in most places and water temperature is in the mid 80's..We still have some openins for the month of August drop us a line or call us for reservations thanks and Good fishing....

July24th,
The lake level is at 306and we hope it will open by Monday when it gets to 305 it's going down at a steady pace and Lake Amistad is still over full,we been having some tough times but Zapata is a great place and the Lake has always taken care of us,my Dad Tommy lived it and survived the droughts and oil fields slumps and Lake levels and we been fishing this Lake since 1962 my Dad is no longer with us but he is upstairs in his boat looking at all this water the Lord has given us,we all here are going trough some bad times with the Mexico been so close by, and the Pirates back in May, and we are still hearing all kinds of rumors of thing that are supposed to be going on.Thing will get better with the Lake been full for the last 3 years and all the fry in it,if you like to catch Bass and ones with an attitude Falcon Lake is the place to fish, for those that fished with me last season this next year is going to be for the record books. The fish come in when it floods feed then pull back out till the PH get's to the right level and then hang.

July24th,
The lake has dropped 2,1/2 feet in a week, hope the state park will open soon the public ramp is ready.Power line is been worked on today they are installing some markers on the lines and they have the power off while working hope the lake will open after they finish, the new flooded brush is starting to ferment and it starting to smell that is pushing fish out to old brush line fished the river yesterday and i will be glad to start fishing the main lake,i did see schools of baby bass working and were about 4 to 6 in long and that is our future Hawgs there was no 50 to 100 bass stringers but we caught some bass no numbers,as soon as we have some fishing report we will post and le you know what is working best, till next time

July 19th
The Lake level is at 309.11 and it dropped from 309.32 that may no be mush but it's going down, the lake has been close from marker 10 to marker 14 and town creek by the bridge,State Park is still closed and most ramps are flooded,Burro creek is open and it's usable the good news is the lake is on the fall and all the dirty water is starting to clear up,bass crappies and gar are in the new flooded areas and got some good cover to feed.

July 16th
The Lake hit 308.9and it may go up as high as 310 the ramps are closed for a couple of days till water levels drop to at least 307 the Game wardens had there trucks blocking the ramps and a friend from Rio Grande City told me that the state park is also closed,we have never seen this kind of level but it's not going to hurt the fish after all this goes back to normal the fishing will be great and the fish will grow fast,I have seen the lake at 306 in the past and the fishing in all of the creeks was out of control lots of clear black water and we used model A Bomers in the lime and chartreus pattern had a report of some fish on the 13th and they told me that the fish were eating just about everything you cast at them, spinner baits crank baits and jigs lots of big logs by the dam and it's all in the middle of the lake along the river channel,so when we do get back on the water we all need to keep an eye out for the logs and be safe while running the lake...

July14th
Looks like we are going to reach the record that was set in 1958,the lake got to 308 ft and that puts us in a flood stage, some homes close to the lake are still safe but it's going to be close Beacon Lodge,Four Seasons park and some of the houses in Falcon Lake Estates East that are close to the 307 mark, the fish have a ton of new flooded brush and are going to be on the move and will mostly look for bait fish that is in around brush eating incests, and weeds. The Dam at Falcon is letting water out as fast as the River can take it with out flooding the Valley, hope by the end of the month water will be going down some.

Falcon Lake is the fullest it's been in a long time,we hit 304.34 at 6am today, the boat ramp is now flooded and it's up to the edge of the ramp the pier is tied to a tree , drove to the Red Wood Lodge and took some pictures we use to live there and the water is amost to the road and the parking lot is half in water.it 'a foot higher then the rise of 2008.The tigers and the Burro Creek are full of water all the way past the bridges if it's stays at this level for a while we are in for some fantastic fishing, just keep an eye out for snakes and fire ants.

July12th.
with all the rain from the storms falcon lake is full again,it's like going back in time back two years when it filled up December 2008,the fishing was a bit slow but the fish were not use to this kind of flood, today this generation of bass has seen the lake come up and will be up in the flooded brush.and we are talking about some big bass along with yearlings we had a good spawn this past spring and that is going to be good for all of the fry.Amistad is still dropping there level and falcon is going to have to keep up with the river flow. The public boat ramp is almost gone we be launching in the parking lot by tomorrow, not many fisherman in town dew to all the bad press and the lake levels but things are getting better, we have more shore line on U.S.A side the lake just got bigger.Fill free to call us or email us or come by the store on your next trip to Falcon Lake..Carolina rig lizards and mag Flukes, spinner baits and some top water baits will be working as soon as the water clears up.
