With the lake on the rise the fish are going to scatter and head for the creeks for another spawning cycle and I prey that it comes up another ten feet for the coming spring the brush and grasses are growing along the shore and that new growth will give them a better chance.the lake is fishing different then last year due to water fluctuation and conditions but with about two weeks of hot weather thing are going to explode and it will be on.lot's of anglers from all over are here to fish and some are doing great...water temp is at 61 deg and cloudy sky's today with temperatures in the mid 50's we all been having a great month of fishing ....

THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS IT HAS BEEN RAINING WITH WINDS OUT OF THE NORTH UP TO 18 MPH AND THE FISHING WAS INCREDIBLE,THE INVESTMENT ON THAT 100MPH RAIN GEAR PAYS OFF EVERY YEAR,THE LAKE IS AT 275.75 WATER TEMP COOLED OFF TO 60 DEG AND THE LAKE IS CLEARING IN THE NORTH END BUT IS STILL STAIN AND CLOUDY THE SOUTH END IS A LOT CLEAR AND COOLER.

TERRY AND HIS SON MIKE ARE GOING BACK TO SHREVEPORT TODAY WITH SMILE AND SOME GOOD CRAPPIES TO HAVE A FISH FRY WITH FAMILY,THEY FISHED WITH ME FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS AND WE SLAMMED THEM HOGS!! ANOTHER CLIANT AT THE SHOP CAME IN AND SAID HE LANDED FIVE OVER TEN AND HAD A 53 POUND TOTAL NOW THAT IS A HEAVY SACK HE TOOK PICTURES AND RELEASED THEM BACK.HE IS GOING TO E MAIL ME SOME PICTURES FOR THE BLOG..

Lake level is at 274 and the water temp is at 61 deg fished with Jerry and his friends last week we had a blast lots of nice fish but had one day that was slow but they had a great time also fished with my long time friend and customer Bernard Harbey from Virgina and we had some big bass on Saturday we landed a lot of big bass by 10 am but a front blew in and we came in for a while and got back out later in the day we got about 10 more and then it hapend the mother load of bass it took my poe's 400 like a freight train had to do some fast adjustments and fought her to the boat where Bernard got her in the net it has taken me 5 years to break my personal best of 13.1 but with the 14.86 it may be a long time before i break that or it may be next week,Falcon lake it's not for the weak of heart this fish are one of a kind and i love it ,Bernard landed over 70 bass in the seven to 9 pound range and he had a ball he will be back again next year!!!!

Full moon starts tomorrow and it's going to be a record breaking week some one out here will break the record,good fishing to all and may your wish come true!!!!!!!!!

WITH THE WATER LEVEL COMING UP AND WATER TEMP AT 63 DEG THE BIG GIRLS ARE ON THE LOOSE,RICH GUERRA GOT HIS DOUBLE 'D' A 10.8 MONSTER BASS GREAT FISHING RICK WE HAD THE BIG HOG ON MAG FLUKE AND I MISSED IT WITH THE NET ONCE WISH I DON'T USUALLY DO BUT WE GOT HER IN THE BOAT,ALSO TOOK MY CUSTOMERS FROM L.A DR RONNIE AND HIS WIFE LIZ MILTON FROM MAUREPAS L.A SHE GOT AN 11.1 HOG TWO YEARS AGO AND THIS TRIP IN 2012 SHE LANDED THREE OVER TEN BUT RONNIE GOT THE TOAD A WHOPPING HAWG THAT TIPPED THE SCALES AT 11.9 LB AND GOT FOUR OVER NINE I GOT A 11.4 MEGA BASS AND WE HAD SOME SERIOUS SAKS IN THE 50 PLUS RANGE THE WEATHER JUST HAS BEEN PERFECT FOR THE GIANTS!!!!.ONE THING I ENJOY IS FOR MY REPEAT CUSTOMERS TO HAVE A GREAT TIME AND THAT IS WHY THEY FISH WITH ME,THE ONES THAT FISH WITH ME FOR THE FIST TIME WILL MOST LIKELY COME BACK,SOME TIMES THE WEATHER AND FISHING CONDITIONS ARE NOT PERFECT BUT I WILL GIVE THEM 105 PERCENT EVEN ON A BAD DAY... The last week of January and ther has been a lot's of monster bass hooked and released back to the lake and with the water level coming up about a foot things may not look so bad for the bass on there spawning from now on,Steve finally got his dream fish one over ten but he also got a bonus a 11. 37 lb mega bass just a couple of hours after the ten great fishing Steve!!!!fished a couple of days with Mr Ken Wilson and friend Ron Phelan we landed a lot of bass but all in the 3 to 4 pound no big ones but they had a blast we also fished for Crappies for a couple of hours each day and they had 39 for the fish fry back home,crappies are moving in for the spawn and the bass will be right behind them next month water temp is holding in the 60's to mid 60's for the last two weeks ans we are going to have an early spawn but they will be on beds till April...

The weather the last four days have been great with the new water from up river the lake is holding steady and it's at 271.57 the water temperature is staying from 59 early to 66 by late day and the talapia are coming up to shallows to to grab some rays and the bass are doing them a number lot's of fish we hook have one in there gut .

Took Robert and Donna Seidler crappie fishing and we had some big ones they are from Canada and love the weather here,Also fished with Ricky and Terry from L.A and we had fish up to 10.8 and two 9.8 with a couple of smaller toads in the 5 to 6 pound range they had a blast.my friend Tracy finally got his big Hog a 13.1 Falcon Mega Bass his a great friend from Oklahoma and he deserves the honors he has been coming to Falcon lake for the last five years and fished lake fork for many till he got his Monster bass,like I said before records are going down this year and we are having a blast,handle the big Girls with care when you take pictures and measurement don't drop or have them out of water too long if you want to enjoy the fishing for years to come we need to take care of them big girl for the next generations of anglers to enjoy.

Middle of January and the water temperature is hanging in around the same in the 60's and we are getting some water from up stream and the lake is stabling and that will trigger the first wave of spawners,lots of big fish are bean hooked but not a lot of numbers with the mast amount of bait for them to eat its hard to catch a lot of fish but when they feed and you find the staging areas the fun is on and lines will break.had some friends and customers landed some Monster Bass Claude and Carson Sims with two giants Dad got a 12.80 and Carson got a 9 lb Hog also my friend Tracy and Billy with some 9 pounders,also Carl and Steve with some great bass it has been slow in numbers but quality is the Key.....

The weather was great and with the big tourney tomorrow the lake is going to be crazy,the water level is still dropping and there is going to be some impressive sacks at the weigh in..

Drew Osborn and Frank Balaban fished with me today after they got here from Tennessee we started the day at 1 pm and by 5 pm we had some toads one at 10.6 and the other at 10.1 with a lot of 6 pounderswe took pictures and released them back to the lake, we will be on the hunt tomorrow once again.

The lake level is at 273.60 and the water temperature is at 58 and up t0 61 by the afternoon with beautiful days and hundred of boats this last week end getting ready for Basschamps Touney and fog lifting till noon they got half the fishing done before the fog lifted,safety is number one in my boat we had to stay in the brush till safe flight we landed some good fish but fish are still on the move and only feeding in key times lost a couple biguns in the brush but from now on they are going to look for spawning areas buck bass will be the first to move in give me a call for your next hog hunt in Falcon..
Billy Huntington from Zapata a new regular to the lake landed a big o hog exactly one year to the day from his arrival last January an 11.25 Gorilla that he pulled out with his 7.3 Rogue Falcon Lake Special out of the thickest brush he could find ...Tracy and Justin had a great time fishing!!!!!

The last couple of days fishing has been good but lake is dropping fast and the fish are on the move,had some crappie days with Karen and Art and we landed 26 big ones most in the two pound plus and some big bass,today we had some fish up to nine pound and tomorrow will be a great day for the big Hogs!!!! water temp is at 58 deg best bite is on the north end of lake as of now going to the dam tomorrow see you all on next report...

2011 is going down as a great year for monster bass,but 2012 is going to be a record breaking year with a lot of gorillas just gorging themselves the last couple of days the big shad run is on and the big fish are eating them as fast as they can digest them some are ready to explode, while others are just getting started most of our fish that we landed were in 4 to 8 feet of water on jigs and brush hogs some on talapia spinner baits but there is a lot of bigons getting hooked on crank baits in the shad pattern.
fished with Randy Smith and we had a great time flipping brush and heavy cover with some impressive fish and also fished with Edgar and Tyler Cantu from Chicago IL and both loved the lake seams like the fishing explodes one day and they feed heavy and the next is slows down and you have to work your tail to land some good fish but at the end of the day it;s all good because you you know in the back of your mind that on any next cast you are going to hook on to a big Hawg and the battle is on!!!! .

My wife and I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and Thank all for your Business in 2011, it was a great year for fishing and the next is going to even better!!!!

The last couple of weeks the weather has been unpredictable with some nice days and some windy and wet days.December 2011 is one of the wettest month in years we almost got as mush rain as the whole year put together,its raining today with temperatures in the mid 40's and wind out of the north.
the fishing continues to be excellent not many numbers but quality fish every day fish from four to 11 pounds also the gizzard shad are moving in to spawn and also the thread fin chad in around big flats close to creek channels with some kind of pit gravel,i have been catching fish in four to 12 feet and also in deep water crawling a live magic chad or mag fluke with heavy weight and slow crawl,jigs with a lake fork flipper or a peca craw as trailer in twenty to thirty foot of water are working great just feel for the junk and slow it down to a stop and count technique. river fishing has been good but there is a lot of stumps to look out for and also submerged fence lines with four inch steel pipe that go out to the river some are before Oscars and the other at white House Creek.
Lake level is at 277.79 and the water temp is at 58 and up to 60 late in the day when the sun shines.monster Bass will start to gorge on mega Telipia and we are starting to find them floating some times you can save them if you find them in time.

The last couple of days have been on the wet side with over three days of rain and over two inches its the most consistent rain in a long time its going to help the fishing with the new water and some run off there will be more activity on the water and the fishing will explode for the next six months.

The last fishing trip was a good one with a lot of fish in the four pound and a couple of heavy sevens but things will be better with heavier fish on the prowl and feeding lots of records will broken,the water temp is at 61 deg and level at 277.45.The Valley got some needed rain for there winter crops and hope they slow down the amount of lake water been used,the ground is getting a good soaking and that will help everyone.

The winter is here with the last week temperatures n the 30's lows and 60's highs and north winds back to back there is no change in the weather and that is what i like,the big fish are going to start to gorge on big talapia and gizzard shad getting ready for the cold water temps, the lake level is at 277.24 and water temp is at 63 and dropping slow we had some cool nights in the 30's and winds out of the north and fishing is staring on the winter pattern creek channels and ledges are the way to go.
lake fork trophy lures and Ronnie Parker and friends and I fished the Big Bass Battle on falcon lake this Last week we had some low and high pressures along with some winy days and cold to freezing days but we still landed some respectable fish and had a great show,Carolina Rigged 5.5 Magic Shad Swimbaits and flipping Craw Tubes and the flipper were the baits of choice you will see a lot's of action on the show in February, but you need to make reservations soon if you want to bein the action I am getting booked up for the coming months.

Charlie,Tedd and Rick with L.F.T lures and Ronnie Parker along with the rest of the pro staff had a great time in Zapata Texas Home of falcon lake great hospitality awesome food and Giant Bass come see us !!!!!!!!

Today we had a great day fished with Mike and Mark Hampton and we had about 30 bass and up to seven pound but had a lot of heavy fours the bite was on and best in the afternoon.The water temp is at 70 and up to 73 by late in the day,the water level is at 277.70 and wind was north all day in the 5 to 10 mph a big different from yesterday fished with mike and his brother and dad we had a bad day with the wind up to 30 m ph they called for 14 mph it started nice but it got bad by noon,it goes to show you that this time of year anything can happen with the weather.have a great Thanks giving day and we will see you at the lake or come by the shop for the baits to catch the big ones!!!!!!

The lake level is at 277.83 and it's been holding steady for the last week ,the water temp is at 69 and up to 71 by late afternoon with most anglers having a hard time catching the big fish some are still hooking up with a toad but the big ones are still one here and one there,fish are starting to hit spinner baits in 4 to 12 feet of water in the chad colors blue or green with a chrome and gold combination in the 3/4 oz,we been using the mag flukes and Lake Fork magic chad in the watermelon red or trout colors also football jigs in the brown and red colors slow crawling like the real thing. bass are not far from there fall pattern we just need the water temp to drop 5 deg to about 65 deg to jump start them into a frenzy and that is when the spinner bait and chatter bait will be king fished with braid for jar braking strikes.
thanksgiving is a couple of days away and we wish everyone a great Turkey day and thank all for your business and friendship when you visit and shop with us, my wife Norma is going to be cooking the big bird and we will be close on Thanksgiving day and maybe fishing in the afternoon depends on the weather lot's of football games that day.Thanksgiving is my start for great bass fishing most folks ask me when those fish start to feed and start on the fall pattern and it's just before or just after Turkey day.

J Ham and his son did some bass fishing before the Holidays we worked hard for the fish but had two great days with up to 25 bass and some up to seven pound lots of two to three pound bass but we had winds in the five to ten mph both days.Also my friend Mike Holland and Roy with Bass Kandy baits fished last week and they had some good fish on mostly on the Kandy speed bug...

Shawn and Clark had a great day they are down to hunt and did a day of fishing with me before staring there hunt,it was a great day with wind about 10 mph and cool weather the fish were on!!! they landed fish up to nine pound with some heavy sevens water temp is at 69 deg and some overcast slow crawling the bait for best results inch at a time for big bass, if you move to quickly your not going to get bit.Clark has fished with me before but it was Shawn's first trip to Falcon Lake and it wont be his last.Bass are starting to group up in and around points and ledges the bait fish are making there move and the bass seam a little fatter like they are staring on there fall pattern getting ready for the winter. give me a call if you want some Falcon Bass fishing for Texas hawgs!!!

November is finally here with day light saving time in a couple of days the fall fishing is on!!!! and we got monster bass all we need is some cool days and they will feed.
water level is still dropping and we need rain bad if we don't get any rain we are going to be in bad shape for the up coming spawn, the fishing continues the same but will be picking up this month I just got a big order of spinner baits just getting ready for the feeding frenzy.here is a nice 12.8 monster bass along with a 8.6 toad,Jeff had a great time we did not land many but all we had were toads..

Also giant cat fish are heating plastic baits and crank baits for some anglers.

The last couple of days have been on and off for the fishing with the high pressures and the cold fronts and wind and fish in transition,it's fall season and things will be rolling by this time next week.November is almost here and day light saving time the days are getting shorter and lots of Hunters getting ready for the big day of opening season they are exited about the big bucks and we are getting the same fever! the time for the big Hogs.
the water level is at 278.44 and water temp is at 71 deg so things are cooling down and November fishing is going to be awesome.
Bass fishing has been fair Crappies are also fair but are starting to group up on pilings,Catfish are also ganging up at bird roost in the back of creeks with some big ones been hooked.Billy with some big slabs,Chacho Delgado and Roy and Tony Matamoros with some big cats and a nice bass Chacho has good luck on those there Cats...David Rios with a monster grass carp and Guy with a 7 pounder we have it all in Falcon Lake,depends on your game!!!!

Octobers first cold front !!!!

fishing the last couple of days have been good with fish up to nine pound lots of heavy sevens and eights but the big fat Hogs are still hard to come by the fishing has been great but the fish look like they have been on a crash diet big bodies but slim guts they are all in good shape but with the first real cold front and with the Holidays coming near I am ready for some fat belly pigs,it's time to gorge and put on the pounds for Thanksgiving.
The water temp is at 80 deg the lake level is at 279.25 and holding there for the last week,most of our fish have been on flukes,big flipping jigs and brush hogs some folks are still having some good luck with small crank baits i prefer a big 6/0 or 7/0 mag hook and heavy line from now on till the new year and then some till April of 2012 when all records are going to fall!!!!!
The lake is fishing a bit different for some folks that have fished it for the last three years now at a different level thing will be on different patterns all you have to do is adapt just like the fish been having to do the last four months ,with lake at a steady fall for almost 20 feet they have to find there old hunting grounds and follow bait fish wish have been on the move of there own.

Tomorrow will be one of the best days to fish this month with moon setting around 1pm and the cold front on it's way if the pressure starts to drop around noon you better be on one of your honey holes because it's going to on like donkey Kong!!!! but keep an eye on the wind it's going to be bad if it gets up to 30 miles an hour out of the North.....

crappies are as big as the get had ten in about one hour all about two pound. we had five for lunch and kept the other five for later if you like pan fish Falcon is the place to fish!!!!!!!

The last weekend tourney was a blowout with six fish over nine eight over ten and five over eleven Falcon Lake is still King of Lakes with the water temp at 81 deg and level holding steady for a few days at 279 and the next week is going to be great and on the 26th the moon is going to be over head from 12 noon till 1; 30 pm and it's going to be an awesome day of fishing, I have that day still open if you would like to go after some Hogs.
The fishing the last couple of days have been good with fish up to nine and a half pound mostly flipping brush hogs and beavers in 10 feet of water,today we had an extra man on the boat and it was still a good day got broken off twice and had a eight pounder to the scales, people freak out when they hook a mega bass the don't cut you any slack if your not ready they will pull drag and wrap you up like a Christmas present.
October is going to be a great one!!!!!!

All of this lucky anglers broke broke there personal best eight to nine pound HAWGS!!!!!

October Madness is here with the cool nights and the change in weather things are going to explode with the amount of Giants in the lake and the way the big fish have been holding back it's going to be a free for all when all the bait fish start to move in to more shallow waters after a long period of them been out in open water suspended.
We been having a couple of big tourneys in town with some nice bags but not like it's going to be this coming weekend with the Basschamps in town and a lot of talented anglers fishing the championship we are going to see some big fish,and that will continue into November when we go after the big Hogs fish will start to gang up, and when you find them you better be ready to break some records!!!!!

Book a trip before the Holidays and you are going to glad you did.The lake level is at 279.37 water temp is at 83 deg the wind has been in the mid teens and the weather in the mid 90's it's getting better by the day!!!!!

September fishing has been good with some great days of fishing,bob and Jerry fished with us last week we had fish up to 10 pound,I also took my wife Norma fishing and she landed an 8 pounder and a four pounder and some other smaller fish mostly on football Jigs and power worms,Bruce White also got to rip some lips yesterday his first bass of the day was a 9 pound 12 oz Hawg and we had about 35 fish.

The lake level is at 279.79 and is still dropping we sure need some good rains and cooler weather,flipping Jigs and Texas rigged brush hogs in creek beds and hardwood also football jigs on points with some kind of gravel bottom for best results or ledges with big rock and brush near by.

The water level is at 281.35 and the big bass are going to start to show with some cold fronts coming our way the big fish are going to start to feed,fished with Johny and Jimmy we had some good bass all on plastics 10 in worms also fished with Jorge and Carry we had some over eight pound and worms and jigs.
Greg Hackneys Hack attack Jig is one bad to the bone jig we fished with them for the last couple of days and they are the real deal big hook and the weed guard are perfect for the giant bass here at Falcon we pulled some hogs out of the brush and the hook and jig performed great and all the colors work well we are selling the 3/4 1oz ans the 1 1/4 oz jigs and also the strike works jigs so get your big sticks ready for the next four months,I have rods ready for my customers for some heavy cover one on one battles with the big Hawgs.Bird watching is not bad when you can find the Hawgs!!!!!!!!!!!

First day of fall

It's almost here the first day of fall and the water temp is at 84 deg we need some cool fronts and cool nights and it will be on spinner baits and jigs will be the ticket fished a couple of day and the flipping bite is still the way to go.there is miles and miles of brush to fish best color has been green pumpkin and the green pumpkin purple also the plum power worm,this time of year and in the coming months fish will regroup and it's on!!!
The lake level is at 281.70 and it's perfect but a couple of feet rise for the next coming year would be nice,Mark Pena Jr got a 10 pound hog and he is a fisherman from way back,great job Mark,lot's of kids got big fish this summer.

Fish are eating craws and blue gill and talapia so swim baits spinner baits and creature baits is what is workingthe best along with the Mag Flukes

First day in September and it was a good one we fished with Tommy and Pat today it was calm and hot but the fishing was good there is a lot of small fish schooling and points and rock bottom was the best most fish came on the Mag fluke with a 7/0 hook we all had a hawg on Tommy and Pat landed some good fish.The lake level is at281.50 I posted 282 on the last report it was 281.75, but it's not falling as fast as it has been sure would be nice if we got some good rain dove season is here and that is when we get the rain,things looked calm out on the lake today we fished the mid lake area and we saw one boat and a couple of Game Warden boats and Coast Guard boat patrolling the lake I have not fished Mexico in a year and a half and we have never had any problems if you think there are bigger fish in Mexico perhaps there are but when we fish we like to enjoy and have a good time so if you fish in Falcon Lake just stay on our side and you will catch big fish and there is always our law enforce man on the water.Winter Texans will be driving in to Town soon and they will get thing going around here,Richad Copp.Leo, Larry and the list is long they been fishing here for many years and they cant wait, fall is around the corner!!!!!!

August is almost gone and the heat continues, the lake level is at 283.70 and most anglers are still catching some big fish but the seven or eight pounder should be over ten they are not heavy and are long and skinny but by late September they will be gaining some pounds best fishing continues in water in the range of six to twelve feet and around flooded wisache .

Fished today with my friend Guy and we ripped some lips Guy got the first Hawg a 7.11 gorilla it gave him a good battle we followed it with a couple of heavy sixes and rounded the day off with a 8,11 both great fish.fished till noon and by that time the heat was at 103deg and the bite slowed down but we had about 39 pound on the biggest five not bad for the dog days!!!!!October is when the big girls will start to gorge them self and we will be ready!!!!!

Falcon Lake It's a great place to fish and the conditions are never the same,the lake level is at 282.09 and last year in August the level was at 307. almost 25 feet lower.

The fishing has been good you can catch some good bass flipping or football jigs in 12 to 18 feet of water Dan and Rick had a good day with some fish up to nine pounds it seamed that the fish are scattered you will catch two or three big ones and then you have to move and the same will happen but at the end of the day you will have a great one,Falcon is by far the best summer time fishing lake even on the dog days of summer.
Arturo Flores and his Dad and his brother are catching some giant fish this summer and his going back to college
but he landed the mega bass a 10.2 oz Hawg and he turned it loose after we took all the pictures and measurements that is what it takes to keep Falcon such a great fishery Great fishing Arturo!!!!!!

It's back to School and a lot of Jung anglers will remember the fun times at Falcon Lake ,That is one of my favorite part of my Job when we take the parents and there kids fishing,
The lake is still dropping and the fish are getting stacked up and so is the bait so it's not hard for them to grab an easy meal,fished with Tommy Guerra and his friend Jay and Jay's son Aaron and Aaron had a fishing trip to remember he is a great fisherman and doesn't give up and his going to be one of the future Pro Fisherman .

We also had a great day Today fishing with Dan and Rick we had about 45 fish biggest almost 10 it weigh 9.12 and we had two 8t's and 4 over 6 pound Yesterday it was the power worms an today they wanted football Jigs all in 17 feet of water or the big flukes,Tomorrow we will find what it's on the big girls menu rick is re-spooling and is going with 20 pound floro it was getting more bites then the braid Dan lost a Monster almost to the boat but we got a good look at it before it threw the bait at us it's a blast and good and good for the heart it seams to raise your heart beat to about 140 you have to remember to keep your line tight and keep steady pressure on them even when the jump.

August heat continues and Falcon Lake is starting to look like it always does lots of brush and humps in about the right depth for some great fall fishing! Can't wait don't get me wrong I love the hot weather but it's unbearable when the wind is not above 20 mph and the fish also feel the oxygen change in the water and they do get lazy and conserve energy the big ones are not as active as the 12 to 16 in bass and the high pressure keeps them looked down but it changed yesterday with rains in the area and in the mountains of Old Mexico we had a great day with fish up to eight pounds.

fished with Dan and brother David for the last four days and the fishing kept improving each day we had to work hard for most bites and ended each day with about 20 to 25 bass but yesterday we had over 50 and they both broke there personal best,all on mag flukes and 10 in worms in 10 to 17 feet of water,the Lake continues to drop and it's at 283.15 and we need some rain,amistad lake got about 5 in of rain yesterday and I hope it was down stream of there dam so we can have some run off they seem to Hog the water when we have droughts and our pool will be lower by next year, if we don't gain a few feet before next year we been through one back in the 90's and it was no fun we had two great spawns and the lake is full of small fish and they need the cover to make it. Catfishing continues to be great with heavy stringers coughs on shrimp and cut bait live worms are catching huge Blue gills and small jigs are catching some big crappies in and around flooded brush and under bridge so if you want to catch any of this give me a call and Falcon Lake will always will be your favorite summer fishing lake....

The fishing has been about same with the high pressure in control and not giving us a break rain just miss us and I mean all of Texas,we did have a few showers and that was in spots around the lake.
The offshore bite has been a little off with most fish suspended out in main lake and are hard to target but you can still catch then flipping brush we are on the way to great moon face and fishing will start to improve,the Lake continues to fall at a steady rate and that just have fish on the move we need for it to stable at least for a week to have fish gang up and group tight to structure.
August is going to be another hot one,Mike Ryan and his friend Pancho fished wit me last week we had two eight pounders and a lot of two to four pound it was slow by Falcon Standards but with 12 to 20 fish that is a lot better then other lakes when you fish all day and don't even have a hit.

Ralph and his son fished this last week end and they had good fishing with ten in power worms in the motor oil color flipping brush in about 12 feet of water,i fished with Matt on Sunday for a half day and the bit started to turn on about ten am with watermelon red lizards in 12 to 15 ft of water,the dog days of Summer are here and fishing will cintinue on the same pattern...

Lake level is still falling and it's aout284.69 water temp at 86 deg and the bass are still fairly shallow you can catch big fish from 4 to 12 feet of water this time of year is when the heat is on and the big girls are tight to the brush where they find cooler water or protection and ambush points,Flipping or pitching are what is happening this time of year or like the old timers use to call it when I was growing up fishing here at Falcon it was called Doodle-Socking seldom do you ever cast more then five feet and never throw in open water and you must fish in the middle of the brush pile or tree and you let your bait drop to bottom and let lay then pick it up and shake it once or twice Doodle the jig or brush hog or big worm and Sockit to them and pull the big haws out of the middle of the brush,I might add that there is an art to dragging a six pounder or bigger out of the brush the secret is heavy line and extra heavy rod up to eight feet I like the seven and a half with a seven to one ratio spooled with 80 pound braid.

Summer is hot and July and august are windy months but there are days that the fish go nuts and you don't the mind the heat and if you want to fish and enjoy one on one battle with a monster bass come see me and we will go on the hunt and do some Doodling!!!!!

Rusty Karr and Sam Woods did a three day hunt we had three fish over six foot and over one hundred pounds,we saw bigger and shot and missed but that is part of the hunt this time of the year there are rolling and you don't know where or when they will surface you must be ready.

Record Heat wave

Texas has been on a heat wave and that is no different here at Falcon we have had a lot says over 100 deg and the lake evaporation continues we deal with the irrigation then the heat the lake level is at 285.5 and the water temp at 84 to 86 deg.
A lot of fisherman from Zapata are taking advantage of the low water levels and are doing a lot of fishing off the bank and catching a lot of big fish,the fish are still fairly shallow and feeding on talapia and bluegill they had record spawns and the bass are not far from the schools of bait.

Joe had a 10 pound 4 oz hawg and Pepe and his grandsons Albert and Robert a great fishing day with four big bass all from 6 to seven pound it's good to see them having a great time school will be starting soon and they will have good memories of the fishing in 2011.

High pressure over Texas!

The last week of fishing has been good but it can be better the fish seam to relate to the weather when you have rains and the pressure is falling or steady fishing can be great but when the high pressure ridge rolls around and stays in Texas for a week or so fishing is a challenge and that is when your patterns and tactics go into play also dealing with winds and hot weather,some days they feed early then on the next they are on a different feeding time or bait ,mostly we have been hammering them with big worms and also flipping brush hogs in the brush you still have to find the big hogs and make them bite.
Fished with Dean and Joe last week we landed a lot of fish mostly in the five pound range with a 9.12 and a 8.12 on the first day and had about 50 fish on the second day we had about the same a lot more were on the flipping bite and Joe got a ten pounder Dean ripped some lips and dragged some nice fish out of deep cover,ther friend Steve fished with our friend Robert Mc Farland and he had some god action also and Steve also got himself a10 pounder.
July is on he right track for been a big fish month we have landed about six over ten and it's only half gone I also fished with my friend Tommy Guerra on the 6th and he landed a 8 pounder that dayand a lot of four pound fish.

Lake is still dropping slow and that will only make the fishing better! and the dog days of summer are here and when you fish Falcon the Hotter the weather the better the bite!!!

INDEPENDENCE DAY AT FALCON ,
July 4th 2011 and there is a lot of activity on the lake with folks from all around and also people from Town fishing today it's all been good,the tournament on Saturday was a good one with a lot of big fish and also had great weather for the event and only had two dead fish,we learn so mush from day to day and when you are taking care of giant fish stress is the biggest killer the less you handle them and keep them out of water,the temp in the holding tank the venting of the air bladder it has to be done just right for survival of the fish.
I have seen a number of parents and there kids fishing this last two months and we have a bunch of Jung ones interested in the sport of fishing some are going after bass some after cats and blue gill or alligator gars, it's all good.

Lake level is at 285.90 and has been steady wind the last four days has been great, a few showers in the area just right for fishing and picnics there is no place like Falcon!!!!!

June was a great one!!! with a lot of big fish and record stringers up to 43 pounds with five fish.July is going to be better then last year when we got the floods and the lake was closed due to the high waters we also broke lake level at 309 ft today the lake is at a great pool of 285 and loaded with big Mamas,the last couple of trips were excellent with fish over 10 and a lot of heavy sevens .Wayne and Fish from L.A fished with me and they had a great time Waynes birthday is today and we wish him a good one from here at Robert's, also fished with Louis Perry yesterday and the weather was changing we had some great action Texas rigging and Carolina rigging 10 to 15 in worms and brush hogs in greenpumkin purple in the brush..

I took Doug and Hunter fishing yesterday,Hunters dad wanted his so to catch a big fish offshore they have been flipping and had some big fish up to 11and a half but hunter could not pull them out of the thicket,Hunter is nine years old and he is a master at flipping,the day started almost like it was meant to be he hooked his first hawg with a Carolina rig a seven pound four once toad he is a good fisherman and listen to my instructions on hook set and how to handle big fish in open water before we got started his best five weigh 30 pound and he was exhausted but he did not give the fish a chance!!!Doug has himself a great fishing partner.

Carolina Rig with 10 to 15 in worms with a three foot leader and a 7/0 monster hook he knows what it take to fish Falcon from now on,he had so mush Fun and he and hid Dad had a great trip!!!!!

We got some great days with about 1 1/2 inches of rain and cool days the last three days have been awesome with the fishing also great,took Chapman and his Dad Stan fishing on Wednesday we had some strong rains but we got out on the lake about 4 pm and racked up some big Catsfish Chapman won one of the two of the annual fishing trip that I donate to the High School for the summer session and it gives me a great feeling when you take a Jung one fishing for the first time on the boat and fishing with there parents Chapman did catch the first fish and also had a gar and a bass on Stan got the biggest and we had a great time they almost filled the box in about three hours all I did was bait hooks and take fish off I had a blast watching them, all the big ones came on shrimp and we also used liver but shrimp was the bait.
Fished with Tommy Guerra and his friend Pat, we had a great day they both had some big fish on and Tommy hot busted off with a Giant and pat got his to the boat we had a lot of fish mostly from 1 foot to 11 ft of water on junebug 10 in power worms Texas riged.

The lake level is at 285.88 and Amistad is at 1,113 both are in good shape and with the rainy season almost here we may get lucky and they fill up again that would be crazy but you don't know till about November what the next year will be like when the next irrigation season approaches we know the fishing is going to be out of this world and a lot of records will be broken!!!!!

High Winds and High Heat!!!''N'' Big Bass!!!!!

The last week has been on the winy side and with record heat you have to drink a lot of water just to feel good,the fishing during a full moon can be though, but i like the next week for monster bass last quarter moon is almost here and the big fish are going to be on the prowl My wife and kids were out of town and i had the boat in the shop and they got back thursday and got the boat on friday. I have been using one of my friends boat all last month and so I took my boat out today for the two hour break in, and it's running like new. South Texas Marine Center is the place to take your boat Pat and Justin and there staff will take good care of you and your boat my dad and I started doing business with them over 25 years ago and they still have the same great service .The wind is blowing about 25 to 30 mph and it's going to be in the 100's all day and just got back to the Shop and got boat ready for the next trip i did check some areas while I was on the lake and thing are looking good for the next few days Summer time is is hot here but the fishing can be outstanding!!!!.

Lake Falcon continues to pump out some monster ''bass'' with the lake level holding almost steady for the last week between 286.75 and 286.65 fish are not as nomadic as the were when it was dropping three to four inches a day.The bream are schooling or spawning along the shell beds and the big bass are gorging on them,local fisherman are racking up some monster bass anywhere from 10 to 13 pound and some are catch and release and some are been put on the wall or on the skillet that's what happens when you have a ton of giants swimming in the lake and it drops 20 feet it happen in the 90's we had a lot of big fish then and the lake started dropping and a lot of fish got eaten,but more people are aware and release the big ones,like Mr Federico Garza he took his boys fishing on Saturday and they landed a 10.8 Falcon Hog the took good care to leave it in the live well and we took some pictures and then he took the boys to the lake and released her back into the lake that was a great lesson for the boy they had more fun seen the fish swim off and hope on catching her another day,it was 24 1/2 length and 19 inch girth,we also had a lot of anglers from out of town that had great days with a lot of heavy fish,Nasario Salinas jr had a 13 pound 03 oz toad on Sunday the biggest he ever had on and is going to mount his trophy and hang it on the wall for some good memories he was fishing with his Dad and his friend Harold when they landed the monster bass.There is one good thing about catching and having a lake full of catfish, bass, talapia and bluegill Crappies and a lot of Jung people start to fish and have fun in the summer along with there mom and dad's some folk's can afford a big boat so when they start fishing off the bank they are on there way to a great life of fun and fishing, some will get themself a boat and all the tackle they need and get into the sport.

Fished with Jerry and Bob this last weekend and Jerry had a10.1 on Friday ,Saturday Bob had a nine pounder and we landed a lot of heavy fish but Sunday Jerry had another Toad on another big one a 10.4 pig it was crazy he thought he had a Mac truck on it pulled so hard this fish are strong.
Monday Lonnie and Ken had a great day we had two over nine two over eight and some heavy sevens the wind was perfect and so was the fishing,on Tuesday i got Lonnie rigged up for the monster BASS I told him if you throw this bait you are going to catch your double "D" and he did on his second cast he hooked another Mac truck a 10.14 pound Toad he was out of energy for about ten minutes after the battle,That Lonnie can fight those big Hawgs!!!!

Lakeview Inn is hosting there first 4th of July Bass Classic Tourney on the July 1st and 2'nd they asked me if I could help them out, and well I grew up at the old Redwood Lodge and it's a special place for me so I agree,it's going to be 3 fish limit per boat.Registration will be on Friday at the Inn and you can pick forms here at Robert's or at the Inn or the Chamber of Commerce.

Today the weather was great till about noon the wind got up about 25 mph and the fishing was good most of the day, the day started with a couple of heavy eight's and a ten pound toad that Jerry landed after Bob had three big fish to the boat.

All of the good humps and points are starting to pay of and the hardwood along the river in main lake are starting to show and the flipping bite is on with big jigs and heavy line.

Brush hogs in watermelon candy and watermelon red and big mag flukes were the bait to throw ,i fished with the new1/2 oz swimjig from Pepper Hawg jigs and landed about five fish using a brush hog as trailer swimming it along brushy points we were using the one once football jigs in sticky green with a brushhog as trailer. The lake will have more fisherman tomorrow with a couple of tourney's in town thing are going to rocking!!!!!

Tracy got the big fish yesterday it was a 8 pound 11 oz toad and had most fish for the day,we had about 40 bass and we landed fish in the 6 to seven pound class but had a bunch of 15 in fish they are fun but we landed about 7 big fish for the day.Today was Jim's day he landed about 7 bass that totaled about 50 pound with a 10.09 Gorilla Kicker, the fish was a hand full and was ripping some drag but Jim played his cards right it got him in the trees a couple of times and he got it to the boat,Tracy had about four heavy sevens and I had a eight pounder and we had a better big fish day! I like to fish for numbers but a'm always in the hunt for the big Schools of big bass and after four moves got them on quality fish.
The lake level is at 287.90 and with the heat and drought it may be a long and hot summer we are praying for rain,the weeds and brush are starting to grow along the bank of the lake and soon irrigation would come to an end and the rainy season may bring the lake level up at least a couple of feet.
Jerry and Bob will be fishing with me for the next three days and if the wind blows like it did this last two days we are in for some great fishing!!!

June Big Bass Bonanza!!!!

May was a great month with a ton of big bass and happy customers and fisherman that fished the lake ,June is going to be even better with big fish gaining weight this next two months are those when I have sleepless nights just thinking of those monster bass, the ones that will be 26 in in length and 22 in in girth and weigh up to 14 pound,It's going to happen we are in route to a great summer and Fall season.
The lake has dropped a foot in the last week and it's at 286.95 the water temp is at 85 deg and as high as 89 in the shallows the big flipping bite will start soon and those logs are starting to show and the big girls have been living there for the last year just shilling and eating I don't think the new lake record will hold for too long if you want to be the lucky one to break it give me a call for some summer time Hawg fishing at it's best!!

Windy Days and high pressures!!!

Things can change in a day! after having great days with wind in the teens and good steady pressure, the blue bird sky and high pressure and winds up to 30 gust to 40mph this weekend, you can have a good day but you can not fish in summer time areas.
Last week we had great days with heavy bags and numbers shot some good videos with Mike and Jeff, but Friday it got nasty in the 30'sby afternoon and it has not quit jet,fished with AJ Jackson and Carlos Malley Saturday and did some bass fishing in the Veleno area lots of boats just trying to doge the wind so we set out to catch some Crappies and bass under the bridge it was a good move Carlos landed a six pound bass and AJ had a four pounder on light tackle and that is like landing a ten on regular tackle this fish can pull.
Crappies in the two to three pound are now common at Falcon Lake and they are the best eating besides cat fish we landed about 19 crappies 2 cat fish and blue gill and had agreat time the biggest bass were a six a four and a eight that is not bad for tough conditions.

David and his wife Michell fished last week also and landed a bunch of big fish they had 15 five's 13 six's 11 seven's and 8 nine and a ten pound kikker i got the pictures and trying to load on computer all on jigs when things are right thing can get crazy and the fishing great!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

The fishing has been really good for the last four days catching lots of numbers of good quality fish anywhere from five in a half to eight pounds. Water temperature is up to 86 degrees, the lake levels at 286 and we're about 14 ft. low. If you're gonna fish this weekend, big heavy jigs, crank baits, and slow rolling 1 ounce to ounce and a half spinner baits. Also swimming the jigs I got some swim jigs coming that should do a number on the big falcon bass.
Wednesday, I fished with Mike Thompson and his cousin Jeff and we had a total about 85 bass all heavy fish. When the heat is on and the bass are biting, you have to keep track of your fluid intake. You must drink at least 6 bottles of water each so you won't dehydrate. You know how it is big bass will keep you're mind occupied and your hands all full of cuts this bass have sharp teeth.
Points humps and gravel mixed in with some shell beds are the best places to fish for numbers of big fish. You can also flip bushes with heavy line and jigs for some monster bass. Ricky Benevides landed in 11.13 monster bass on a rattle trap fishing off the bank. Great catch, Ricky! He's going to have it mounted. he doesn't have a clue when he will beat that it may be 30 years before he catches a bigger one than that. Most people fish a lifetime for a fish like this so I tell these young people to measure and take pictures and get a replica, but sometimes it's too late. The fish has been out of the water too long. Conservation and the sport to carry on for fishing generations.

Memorial Day Weekend is a weekend to remember our fallen heroes. I was in the army back in the 70s and I know what so many families have lost in the wars. Feeding frenzied !!!!

Yesterday was a great day at falcon Lake with the hot weather and the great fishing things get interesting when you are in the hunt for the big Hawgs you can stay and catch 60 or more two ponders or you can hunt for the big school of mega bass they can be in the five to seven or seven to eleven pound range it' a matter of being at the right place at the right time when the feeding frenzied starts,Fished with Doug Pierce ad his friend Freck and we got on a good school of fish in the five to eight pound class swimming and bumping bottom with the Pepper Hawg Jig and a Bass Candi Speed bug was the ticket they would load upon you rod and the game was on!!!we landed about 20 or so fish not counting the 20 or more smaller ones we got early you just leave those class fish when you are in the quest for monster BASS.

Today we are on the prowl for monster blues and maybe a giant Gator Gar.Falcon Lake is full of giant fish and it's not just a great bass lake but also a great cat and gar lake...

Dan and Rick are on there way back home and they both had three days of excellent bass fishing at it's best with the lake starting to stable and the draw down slowing down and level at 288.47 and water temp at 80 deg the big fish are starting there summer pattern and they can be found any place there is rock or gravel.

Dan got a ten pound eight once monster bass he got a 12 pounder in March while fishing with me,Rick got a couple of eight pounder but landed a lot of heavy sevens this is his first visit to the big pond and he loved it Bass are mean and have a bad attitude,I also landed a ten an we had about seven fish that were heavy eights all on Carolina rigs and one once foot ball Jigs from Pepper hog jig in the one once and using Bass Candy baits and brush hogs as trailers,I used one Jig till the paint was half worn off and landed a lot of big fish! this Jigs have a big and heavy hook that will hold on to those mega bass

May 19- Summer fishing is on at Falcon. Local fishermen as well as visitors are enjoying the great fishing going on right now. The water level is at 288.7 ft. and the weather is getting in the high 90's some wind throughout the day and a little rain. Reports coming in are excellent with fish numbers in the 75 to 100 per day ranging in weights between 2 to 3 lbs to up to 8 lbs. The fishing could not be better and with the great weather we been having Bass clubs from San Antonio and people from Zapata are catching some good stringers.The lake level is at 289.60 the water temp is at 80 deg.best baits{football jigs,spinner baits and crank baits} main lake points in 2 to 15 feet of water,water is murky at the north end and clear mid to south end of the lake.
Memo and Ivan fished with me yesterday we had about 65 bass and the biggest at nine pound mostly on Pepper Jigs in the one once football in penutbutter and jelly with Bass Candy Speed Bug as trailer also brush hogs in the watermelon red.

Gator Gar are staring to move in deeper water not up in numbers jet in the shallows, water needs to worm up about five more deg.Robert Lopez did some hunting with me a couple of days ago and we got two and some practice for the monsters when the time comes..

The Lake level is at 290.15 and some of the points and humps are about right for big time summer fishing, crank baits jigs and big plastics are good for monster bass and most big fish are starting to look healthy and gaining weight.
With the news of the mexico army cleaning out the mexico side things can be a little hesitant for people that are coming to fish Falcon Lake! like I been telling people for the last year or so that you don't need to fish Mexico waters just stay on USA side and you will be OK ,All of my guided trips for the last year have been on our waters and we catch tons of big fish and there is always boats around and also Game Wardens and Border Patrols.
It will be some time before I fish mexico and i will not take customers on the Mexico side without mexico licence like some folks are doing it's not worth the problems and the fish don't grow any bigger over there,I have been fishing here for the last 45 years and the fishing is as good or better on USA waters.

May is turning out to be a good one for a lot of fisherman with the lake falling and the level today at 291.30 is still good it's about 10 ft low from full wish that put's it at a good level,let's hope the crops down stream already had a good soaking and they stop the pull down.
There is a lot of people and teenagers that are taking advantage of the good fishing, with the last 4 years of good spawns there are a ton of bass and catfish along with Crappies and bluegill.We are going back to hot days from now on and we do need the rain,If you want to catch good number of bass look for schools of them on points and along the brush they will school in the morning and again around noon time.

The wind is a factor and it can help you or it can make your day a challenge but if you play it safe you will have a basstastic day!!!!!! here are some of some Hawgs my customers have landed this year all over 10 pound not counting the eight's and heavy nine's those numbers are way high!!.

The temperature the last three days was great with 70 to 80 deg and lows in the mid 50's the lake surface temperature has been at 78 deg and most fish are still relating to shallow cover, with the migration of crawdads following the lake drop fish will gorge on them as they make there move towards the water, fished up the river last and fishing is good water is dirty but with a rattle or some dip and glow garlic or your favorite sent that will do the trick.

It's common for days with 40 to 80 fish most will be in the one to three pound using crankbaits and rattle traps,the fish that are from five to eight pound will be on a school of there own and that is when you must hunt for key areas I like long windy banks with plenty of brush with a creek channel swing or vend this big fish will wait for bait cruising along brush line with the current.Man when you start to see the old brush line you start to see a different lake and possibility's old foundations rock piles and also the flipping and doodle socking will be on,you need heavy equipment 7 to 7.6 heavy and 64lb line with the coming heat the fish will be in and around the brush.

I got my Gar fishing boat ready for some summer time fun I have had great success catching them on rod and reel now we are going to start to hunt them with bow and also with reels,a lot of folks have ask me for this services and we will be doing combo packages fish for bass in the morning and hunt for gar in the heat of the day!!!!!so if you like to go for trophy bass and gar give me a call thanks and good fishing!!!!

I am exited with the day we had yesterday,April finished off with a bang!!! The fish were on the move and hungry we had about 25 by 9 am with the heavy bass at 8 pounds Lock had the first big one of the day, and then the big Hawgs turned on George hung a toad 9 pound 12 oz on a big 12 in worm in the tequila sunrise in about 12 ft of water then his son Lock got a 7.6 toad and then a 10.4 hawgzilla with big bug eyes along with two heavy eight's and the game was on for about one hour.

The temperature continued to rise to about 101 degrease and the fish started to school we got back on windy points and racked up some more bass most in the three to four pound but it was fun we did catch a bunch on a pro-trap in the Tennessee shad color and mag flukes in the Arkansas shiner and foot ball jigs with a Bass kandi in the Speed bug in the watermelon red magic and we ended with about 75 bass.

May is going to be a great one I can feel it it's going to be as good as last year or maybe better I can say it's going to be better and bigger fish,so if you want some of the action give me a call for some hot summer time fishing!!!!!

The wind continues to blow and the fishing can be a little challenging but we manage to catch some good fish.Fished with Rusty and David yesterday and we had about 48 bass biggest about 6 pound and most about 3 to 5 pound and lost a couple of big ones but they had a great time,Today it was a bit different with winds at 25 to 35 mph we had about 20 most at 3 pound with 4 that hit six pound, it was good till the wind picked up around 9 am we had the biggest on jigs and mag flukes George perett and his son Lock had a grat time today .
Tomorrow will be better with winds in the 10 to 20 mph we are going to fish better and better water and wont be dodging the wind.
Joey Vera and his friend Jaime Gonzalez have been doing some fishing and taking advantage of the great fishing they are getting ready for summer time fishing,the lake continues to drop and a lot of people from Zapata are taking advantage of the great weather, the fish are coming in to feed and they are having good results .

Today we had record heat wave !!! it got to 108 with 7 percent humidity and the fish were on the prowl,fished with Ted and Don the last three days and we landed some Toads, Ted is from Idaho and Don is from Huston and they have fished with me before and they love Falcon Lake.
the lake level is steady dropping and the fish are active you can catch them on humps,points or wind blown banks it's a fishing bonanza,got most of our fish this morning on plastics Texas rigged and spinnerbaits.
George and Rusty and there two sons will be fishing with me on Thursday and Friday and we are going to have some fun the wind is going to blow again and let's hope it's not too bad we will still catch some Hawgs

Water level is at 294.81 water temp is at 84 deg and the wind continues to blow,it's going to be nice when we can fish the big water for some Hogs got Mr Ted Dale and his friend Don for the next couple of days and the big fish are going to fall,big Carolina rigs and football jigs are the baits of choice,had to reschedule last couple of days with Dr Sanchez the wind was terrible we like for our clients to have a great time and when it blows 25 to 30 it's best to reschedule.
Fished with Billy Huntington for a few hours he wanted to try the Dobyns rods and they got a work out he landed a 7 pounder and then a heavy 8 he was fishing the Champion series in 7' 3" six and he loved those rods. Robert's Fish n Tackle will be Carrying them soon!!! Then we fished for some slabs the wind was terrible but we landed 14 got back by noon.
The lake level might be going down and Amistad is holding all the water but we will be growing some new habitat for the next generation of hogs that's what makes Falcon what it is today.
The fishing for the next couple of months is going to be hot and by June the fish will have big bug eyes and heavy weight and big guts we can count on some 24 in by 20 girth in the eleven pound range,I love June and July come see us for reservations and for all your takle needs our mission is to keep you fishing!!!!!

Falcon Lake in April at it's best!!! with the heat and all the new fry the Bass are starting to gorge and put on some weigh,and they are mean as ever we landed some big fish the last couple of trips and lost some good ones that were giants but you know how that goes they look bigger when they get away.
The lake level is dropping fast and the water temp is at 80 deg with about two feet visibility and the shad and blue gill are all over and the bass are not far rattle traps.spinnerbaits and some top water baits are working along with plastics the Bass Kandy baits in the watermelon candy red magic are working great in the 5 in speedbug Texas rigged or Carolina rigged in 10 to 15 ft of water.
Tim and his friend fished with me a couple of days ago and we had a blast we fished till noon and landed some hawgs.'' J'' nd his dad fished today and we landed about 40 fish had some haevy 7's and one eight pounder with a lot of three pounders the smaller fish are trying to grow fast and are schooling on brush line and windy points.....

Summer time fishing is here the high temperatures and high winds have kept a lot of fisherman off the lake! finally we have had a break from the wind and the last couple of days fishing got back to normal with wind in the 10 to 18 mph you can fish main lake and have better control of the boat.
The water level is still dropping and we are down to 297.55 that may seam like a one foot drop in a week is not bad it kind a makes you nervous because we have not had any rain in months to speak of and we don't know when and how mush they are going to drop the level, if we drop to 287.00 that would be about right ,the fish are still schooling but with the change in weather patterns it kind of stuns the big fish,with the high pressure moving off and the low coming this Friday Saturday looks good for some good fun in Falcon lake.
Catfishing and crappie fishing still excellent along with schooling bass the big Hawgs need for the pressures to settle down a bit with all the wind and moisture been pulled up north.
Summer time fishing at it's best for the next four months it's going to be a party in the sun drink plenty of water and have plenty of sunblock,we had some good trips the last couple of days but no giants as of today biggest about 7 pound but a lot of 3 and 4's but it will change in a hurry the next couple of days may be out of control,I have some days left in April and May so give me a call!!!!

April is going to be great the fish are starting to school and the weather is getting hotter,the water temp is at 76 deg and the lake is dropping slow as of today.
Fished with Paul and Trey Brogdon on the last day of March and boy it was a great day for big fish not a lot of numbers but had some monster bass had four fish over ten and one nine pounder,all in 17 to 25 ft suspended on brush tops the tree had to be about 4 feet under the surface for best results but the big rig with a once weight also did good with a three foot leader.
Trey had the fishing trip of a life time some people tend to do great just have to be ready when your turn comes up this are some mean fish with big jaws and a attitude of a bucking bull.
going to be doing some gator gar trips this coming months so if you would like to catch them on rod and reel or with a bow call for reservations.

The lake level is on the way down for now it has dropped about 3 inches and that will pull a lot of bass to offshore structure and we will be catching some big ones water temp is at 71 deg and with the cold front today we hope it's the last of the season.
Fished last Sunday with my friend guy for some slabs and we did real good we had about 25 in about three hour not bad we had a fish fry that afternoon Falcon is starting to be a great crappie lake with the last four years of good solid spawns they will be around for a long time so if you like to fish for giant slabs come to FALCON Lake and have some fun..
Brad Kokoron and his brother Nick also fished with me on Tuesday and we had about 15 bass biggest about 8.5 and a bunch of 3 and 4's most flipping brush hogs they had a ball,then we fished for some slabs and landed about 16 all about two pounds in about two hour.
Anglers from Dallas area are starting to come for the giant fish and the great weather here in Zapata, so if you would like try your skills at Bass,Crappie,big cats or big giant Gar give me a call for some summer time action!!!!!

Third Quarter Moon is what I like it never fails for catching monster Bass!!!! we started today with Todd Pfeil landing the first of some mega bass a 9 pound 6 oz Falcon Hawg but it was not long after that his friend Lawrence Zemanek landed a 10 pound 80z Hawg.
The weather is starting to feel like summer it got to 96 deg and the wind was not blowing it got hot but it did not stop Lawrence and Todd from having a great time and they loved falcon lake we did some carolina rigging and also some flipping heavy cover Texas style, some fish got the best of us but we got some out of that brush,Brush hogs and mag flukes is all it took,some of the big fish were spawning in 13 ft of water and all you had to do is drop it on there nest in the thicket and the fight was on!!!! we had two tens one nine and two eights with a bunch of heavy sixes.

Today's weather could not have been any better,the wind was blowing about 10 to 15 and then around lunch it got down to about 5 miles per hour,the lake is still at 299.60 and the water temp is at 73 deg.
Fished with AJ and Tyler from Minnesota and they both beat there personal best tyler had a 9 pound 02 oz and AJ had a 7pound 11 oz toad and we had about 40 bass we did catch a bunch of 2 pounders but most were about 5 to 6 pound we had two 9n's one eight and one 7,11 .

fish are starting to school and feed on shad and it's time to come to Falcon Lake to fish give me a call for the next three months are going to be hot and crazy lot's of big bass.....

The wind today is blowing at 20 to 25 mph the water temp is creeping up and the bass are getting more active,the blue gill are spawning and things are getting started for the fast action.

The water level is holding but it will not be long before the crops need a good soaking and the level will drop,hope it is not more then four feet we had a great spawn and the fry are growing fast in the brush,Crappies and big Catfish are in big numbers and people are limiting out fast.

April is going to be a fishing bonanza it's going to be hot and so is the fishing big fish and numbers is what is in order!!!!

The water level is perfect it has not dropped and the fish are almost done with there spawn,the ones we been catching are on beds or ready to make the move for the full moon,had some customers come by and they are catching fish from 2 ft to 30 ft,the water temp is at 70 deg and we had a great spawn we had 6 lunkers so far and it's like we dont have any big fish in the lake we have a ton of 6 to 9 pound bass.

Carolina Rig is the way to go big 10 to 12 in worms mag flukes Bass Kandy minnow in the watermelon red magic,football jigs and crankbaits are also working.

Fished with Doug and Fred on the 14th we landed a lot of big fish Doug lost one about 12 pound when it jumped and busted his line Fred got a 9.08 pound bass,also had Jerry Obrian and friends for two days one day was a little slow but the next was good with a lot of 6 to 7 pound fish.

Today Dillon Kolb fished with me and we landed about 32 bass biggest 8 pound and all about 5 to 6 pound our smallest was a 4 1/2 pounder in 11 to 27 ft of water.give me a call for April fishing the best is jet to come summer fishing at it's best this fish do not take long to recuperate they arejust feeding machines!!!!!

Todd Curttis Elrod landed the fish of his life time,he still in chock today when he came by him and his friends are having a great trip he landed the big Hawg with a jewel 5/8 jig and chompers twin tail grubs in 20 ft of water and he said it was great to have a fish that big in hand for the first time.

Ethel is still out there in Falcon and we are getting close to breaking all records,David Cosners fish # 519 is a pure Florida bass and that is what the T.P.W is working so hard for the last 40 years,I can remember when they brought the first ones to Falcon my dad the late Tommy Gray was here when the brought them, he loved this lake as mush I do and if the lake stays full for about 3 more years not lower then 280 ft you better be ready for some world records we have the weather and the Florida Bass.

The fishing continues to get better! I fished with David and his Dad on the 13th and we ripped some lips as soon as we got the trolling motor down David had a 5 pounder then Don landed a 10.4 pound gorilla we had some big fish and David and his pop had a great time. David landed two more 9ns and some heavy 8's then he got the BIG ONE a 13.6 hawg later in the afternoon he called and man was I happy the young man landed the fish of a life time you can see his big smile and that was awesome could not happen to a better person!!!!
David will be back to fish Falcon Lake again this Lake is where dreams come true and fisherman get there heart broken when the big one gets away but you will be back in persuit of the one that got away.
T.P.W. Picked fish # 5 and they brought back three others bac to the lake on 03/09/2011 and they were all in good shape...

The last two days the wind has been crazy and with the high pressure in the area the fish are starting to get use to it I fished with George and Rusty yesterday and we had about 17 fish one 8 two 7's and a lot of heavy 5's all in 14 to 26 ft of water this time of year we have the late spawners and the postspawn bass to deal with and the ones that are getting ready to go on a feeding frenze.

George is a great person and his friend Rusty who loves to fish landed the biggest of the day,I fished with George Dias and Hector Pena we had about 14 in the boat all about the same as yesterday with one almost 8 pound.

David Cosner and his Dad Don are fishing with me tomorrow and we are going to try to put a hurt on those Gorillas!!! man you must be ready when your out fishing this lake, we were fishiing on the second day with Glen and Dan a couple of days ago Dan hooked a bronze back and it took him to the cleaners the fish took the senco and he set the hook and he could not turn this pig it was shacking the whole tree and ripped some lips, man Danny "D"was heart broken but he landed a big 10 pounder on his last cast of the day to make up for it, welcome to the lunker club Dan!!!!!I forgot my camera that day you know how we get in a hurry and we forget some things well Dans's Dad had one and as soon as he sends pictures I will post...

Today was an awesome day in Falcon Lake well another awesome day Louisiana boys Glen Vamvoras and son Dan had some huge fish eventhough the wind picked up so did the fishing. The biggest one today was 12 lbs and two 10 lb hawgs. Glen had the fish of his lifetime in his hands. The water temp. is at 68 degrees and people are catching some giant fish. Don't let people tell you the spawn is over because the big girls are just getting started. Plastic baits like senkos and mag flukes are working good in about 12 to 25 ft of water. Make sure you have the right equipment when you make the drive down here, these fish have an attitude, and they fight all the way to the boat. SHARELUNKER #3 FALCON LAKE!!!!!!! On Sunday a 14.1 lb giant bass was caught by Gene Patrin this is the third sharelunker on record for the lake. TPWD picked it up from the shop tanks in very good shape. Yesterday a number of big fish were caught. The weather is getting good the wind has died down and the fishing is on. Mag Flukes are the bait of choice selling plenty of them. March proves to be the big month for Falcon once again. Come down for the best fishing in the Texas and everywhere.

Spring is here and the lake level is at 299.70 the water temp is in the mid 70's and the fish are going to get more active,we will be targeting the spawn and postspawn bass and the bluegill will also start there spawn and the big bass are not going to be far and will be suspended on tree tops ready to eat.

Spring break will be soon for all the kids in school and in collage so make plans to visit Falcon Lake is going to be another great year,we had a lot of parents and there kids fishing here the last few years and it's going to be the same good fishing and hot weather..

Fished with Dr Manny Sanchez and his friend Neil last week we landed about 51 bass in two days they both had there personal best we landed several bass in the heavy nine pound and a bunch of heavy 7's.

The Gar and talapia,bluegill and catfish will all be on the spawn flats and you know the carp are starting to come in to the shallows also bass will be on beds all the way till May and those are the late spawners they will spawn in deeper water say from 6 to 12 ft on points ...

Crank baits,spinnerbaits and mag flukes and the skinny dipper from Reaction Innovations I have been doing good on the big Dipper it's about 7 in long and the bass are liking them..

The last five days have been great with a lot of customers landing some toads and fish are almost ready to make there move with the fish still holding there egg roll and big belly abaut ready to pop.

Water temp is at 68 deg and up to 76 be afternoon the trees and yucca are blooming and its on!!! looks like the fish are ready to spawn we have not hooked many with bloody tail so I know that Tomorrow is going to be March and that is the best time to fish Falcon all the way to May we will see a lot of more big fish.

March is big fish month so come down to Falcon for some great action be sure and stop by robert's for the baits and some information on patterns and baits!!! till next time, good fishing.

Fished with Bubba Smith and Byron Turner today the day started slow but it picked up and when the front blew in the fish turned on the weather was hot and no wind but it got up to 25 out of the north,had one over 10 pound a 9 pounder and some heavy 5's.

Jerry Gold was in the store and he did real good had one over 11 and a couple of 10's and he had a great day!!! Jerry use to fish with my Dad and he will always remember when they fished and so do I and it's good to remember some of the good old fishing trips.

The weather the last two days have been great with some cloud cover and the water temp at 65 almost all over the lake the fish are on a roll and there is no stopping now till May we will have staging ,prespawn and pospawn fish to deal with and that is good.

The first wave is moving and there is a lot of buck bass but the big fish are been caught and folks are having a blast,If you come and fish Falcon you will be back the weather,the fish and Zapata our home town is a berry special place to be.

I have been fishing all over the lake on the U.S.A side and fish are locked in and still coming in to flats and creeks with some clay and gravel mix with isolated bushes close to creek channels,the wisache trees are blooming! so bring heavy equipment nd heavy line and your allergy medication.

Richard Russel landed the fish of a life time yesterday a 11 pound 06 oz toad he will be coming to falcon from now on.also Willy Pesina,Dan Bowman from Osage Beach Mo. fished with my friend Pat Kowal and Anita Kowal also from Linn Creek MO. and Dan will also be coming back he landed a lot of big fish and had a 8 pound 09 oz kicker fish Pat had a 9 pound 09 oz also.

Charles Hardin caught a 13.84 lb monster bass this morning. It measures 24 1/2 in length with a 20 1/2 girth doing fantastic in our tank. Texas Parks and Wildlife on its way to pick it up.Charles was fishing with his wife when he hooked the Hawg and he was using 8 in lizard in about 5 ft of water . She is a true Hawg!!!!!. He will be taking his wife fishing again tomorrow he said it's her turn to catch one of her own, so come down it has started Falcon Lake is the place to be for big bass!!!

The water temp is at 70 deg in some creeks,the bass are making there move a lot of buck bass in 2 to 5 ft of water and have some good reports on some bass on beds,we been catching some good bass on spinner baits the Pepper Hawg in the california and the gilly and also the the new bleeding shad are some ones the bass are hammering,Santone in the white /chart and the citrus,Watermelon red lizards and the Bass Kandy speed bug in the new watermelon magic.
The Crappies and the Bluegill are also in good numbers along bridge pilings and doodle socking the brush with a small jig and cork if you have never fished Falcon you need to come and fish we hope the last of the bad fronts have past us and it will be hot for the rest of the season.
The Lake level is holding and let's hope they wait till we have the spawn till they drop it some more it would be nice! we have been blessed the last four years with all the water and the level the lake has been at.Give us a call for reservations for March and April it's going to be a Blast!!!!!

February 16- The weather is finally warm. We were getting tired of the brrr cold so now we are ready for some good fishing. Water is starting to get warm 61 degrees morning and up to 65 degrees by the afternoon. The day temp is about 80 degrees and the water level is at 299.62 ft. Hopefully we can keep the great weather a little longer. Fish are starting to move shallow. Spinnerbaits are working in about 2 to 8 ft of water so are the common plastics like brush hogs, lizard and worms. Fishing was tough the last few days with the cold weather but the folks from Bass Champs still found the big ones taking over 40 lbs to win the contest. The biggest weighing over 12 lbs. It is going to start soon so make plans to come down to Zapata. We will upload some good photos in the next couple of days so stay tuned!!!

February has had about 4 good fishing days, with the cold fronts and high pressures it just messes with the fish and fisherman high winds and cold temperatures I am glad we are in for some hot days.
The fish are ready and this weekend it's going to bust wide open,we hope this is the last of the monster fronts and the water gets back to the 60's and the fish start on there spawn.
Basschamps will be fishing on the 12th and they are going to have a great tourny ther is going to be a lot of big fish hooked and it may take 40 pound or better to win,I am going to be on the water as well with some customers and I can't wait,just cleaned the tank and it's ready for some Hawgs,
Fished with Chris and Kent on the 7th and 8th and the weather just did not help the wind out of the north one day and then out of the south the next about 15 to 30 m.p.h and then on the 9th it was brutal and cold with the wind up to 40 m.p.h we landed some good fish but they did not come easy.
The next two weeks it's going to be a lot better as long as Mother Nature and the weather worms up,it wont be long till we are wearing shorts and saying only in South Texas.....

Old man winter has cooled the lake back down to about 56 deg and as low as 51 back of some creeks,we fished yesterday after some cold days it was in the mid 60's and man that was good the bite was not bad but only boated about 15 fish two about 7 pound and a couple of five pound toads that is slow by Falcon standards.they are fat and are not eating till water and weather worms up a couple of deg that will be soon as long as we have sunshine water will worm up in protected creeks and things will change fast the fish are ready to come in shallow.
We will keep you posted on the conditions and the fishing, we are ready for some good weather there is going to be a lot of big fish in the next three months.

The fishing and the weather has been about the same ,some days the weather is perfect and the fishing is great but there are those days that you have to fish hard and never give up! the fish have been holding deep and started there move a couple of days ago the water level is still at 299.17 and the temp is in the mid 60's by the afternoon,The fish up the river and on the north end are going to make there first move but the next week weather is going to be cold as long as the wind is not blowing 30 to 40 the fish in the back of coves will back out to creek channels.
The first Sharelunker was weigh in today and Ky Martin landed the big Hawg a 13 pound 03.6 oz Hawgzilla and it's just the start of a great year congrat's to Ky his fish is the first from Falcon and that will help the program for all Texans to enjoy, we get so many people that fish Texas waters and they say boy we wish our state would work as hard as you all's,The big girl is in the holding tank and she is doing good Ky took good care of her and we are monitoring the fish till T.P. W.life fishery's pick here up.
Fished with Justin last couple of days he was looking for the Hawgs we had two big fish on that were just mean and full of that Falcon attitude,Justin hooked a great big fish yesterday on a Pepper Hawg spinner bait that was a toad bit it won the battle he will be on the hunt when he comes back he is a real trophy hunter and that why he fishes Falcon Lake .
Basschamps will be fishing on the 12th of February and they are going to have a blast it's going to take at least 42 pound to win!!!!!!

Winter weather for South Texas in January and February can be a little hard to predict with the cold fronts and high pressures rolling in fishing can be great on day and slow the next but we almost always manege to put something together.
The fish are still there but you must work with the conditions and always be safe on your plans when fishing cold front and wind,there is not many places to go to hide from the wind and you can not fish open water even if you think you know the lake, you must fish areas back of creeks with a lot of brush to do some flipping or spinner bait fishing slow rolling the bait slow and pause every time your bait comes in contact with brush.
Fished with Don and Carol Sesson yesterday and we started fishing the wind was at 14 m.p.h then it got to almost 25 to 30 and we had to find the right places to fish, Don landed an eight pounder carol landed a 4 pounder I got one about seven and all on spinner baits the Pepper Hawg Spinnerbait in the gilly was the ticket they slammed it!! then we fished for some giant crappies Carol wanted to see if they were as big as the ones on her own lake and she did catch the biggest of the day.
The next couple of weeks the fish are going to start to move so if you want to catch a big one come to Falcon Lake to fish you will be back thanks and tight lines....

Today the lake level is holding at 299.44 and it has come up a few inches and the water temp is not bad it starts at 56 and gets to almost 60 by late afternoon.
Well the fishing last three days were great on Friday Bob and Jerry had about 25 bass with some heavy 8 pounders Saturday it was crazy we landed about 6 fish over 8 two heavy 9's and about 10 fish in the seven pound range and landed about 42 bass,Sunday the fog rolled in and it did not lift till almost noon Bob had a 10 pound Hawg and Jerry had another seven,not only did the fog rolled in so did the high pressure and that turns fish off we did catch some buck bass in the shallows but had to move out for bigger fish,it's almost time and the bucks are moving in the big Girls are not far behind.
January is almost gone and some trees are starting to bud as soon as we start to see orange blooms on the Huizache.The Grande Bass fish contest sponsored by the Zapata Chamber of Commerce got started on the 15th and runs till April 30th and there is a $2,500 reward for the biggest bass it's $25. dollar to enter in the contest if you would like to enter come sign in here at the shop you got to bring your heavy bass and have it weigh here and register and you can weigh as many fish as you like as long as it's bigger then the last good luck and good fishing!!!
Ronnie Fulford entered on the 21'st and weigh one in the next day it was a pig that was 10 pound 04 oz and he works in the oil field and likes to fish falcon on his days off.Great Job Ronnie!!!!! for more info go to www.zapatachamber.com they will be posting all entries....

The next 4 months it's going to be great fishing call us for reservations thats the winter and spring fishing and then the summer fishing starts it never ends Falcon Lake is an all year round bonanza you need to come and experience the great fishing and weather....

Yesterday we hit the high 60's and the wind was blowing about 15 m.p.h took Mr Hugh Rule and his friend Danny from Tennessee fishing we loaded up the bass gear and also some Crappie gear Hugh wanted to catch a few Slabs we got to our spot fished around bridge pilings and hammerd some two pound Crappies had about 12 and I told Hugh I had a great spinnerbait spot to go fish that I have been catching some Toads,but he said Man we got to fish for this Slabs and we ended up fishing there the rest of the day.
Jigs in clear color were the best also blue and pearl you have to have the bait they want to catch them most people stay with there go to color but there is times you have to change,we kept 48 and landed about 90 we let a bunch back in the Lake that a lot to clean,I have fished here from an early age and remember where and how we use to catch them,the lake is full of GIANT slabs and you need to take your Kids and parents to catch some of this Giant Bream and Crappies so you can also have some good memories things change from years to years but good memories will always be with you.
We will be after Giant Bass tomorrow Jerry and Bob will be ready Friday is going to be cold but this is my best moon phase 3 days after the full moon going to third quarter the fish almost always gorge them self.Today the wind is going to blowing out of the north at 30 to 40 m.p.h so if you fish Falcon you must be careful not to be out on main Lake when it hits.

the water level has been staying about the same for the last week the rain and cool weather was a blessing they stopped the draw down and it's holding at 299.20 the fish will also settle down and wont be changing patterns,water temp is about 57 to 59 deg and with the full moon today things are going to be crazy.I can tell you that by next full moon things are going to rocking Feb,March and April and up to May this are big fish months dont forget your cold weather gear and your heavy action rods 7 to 7.8 are best with heavy line.I have some days still in February so if you want to catch some pigs give me a call.Thanks and good fishing!!!This is a monster 14.62 that was turned in to the Sheralunker and was brought back to the lake,this are some monster Bass!!!!!!

The cold weather is gone for a few days,the water temp dropped a couple of deg and the fishing was almost all deep 18 to 35 ft with jigs and plastics Bernard had a great day on the 15th he landed 23 fish and lost a giant close to the boat it was cold and the best bite was in the afternoon we had two over nine and a bunch of solid sevens and we boated about 38 fish.
Sunday went hunting with Dr Wilson and took George on his first hunt he was in training and did well not many ducks but he got some field work around decoys and brush shot a couple of coots and he loved it.
Monday started off with lot's of fog it did not lift till almost noon started fishing deep and landed about 12 fish Bill and Fred got to fish offshore with heavy rigs 1 oz jigs and Texas rigs in 30 ft of water,the sky got clear and the high pressure rolled in it was though after that Fred landed this 8 pound 04 oz Hawg man I love those eyes on this pigs,fish will start to move up soon so you need to make reservations and come and have some fun give us a call if you want to catch some Hawgs....

Winter is here and this week has been cold but the fishing is hot with the water temp getting cold you got to fish slow best bite 20 to 35 ft on 10 in worms mag flukes,Fished yesterday with Tracy it was cold and rainy had some fish but today the big girls wanted to play Bernard Harvey from Virginia had a great day he did not feel the cold,his first Falcon Bass was a6 pounder and his second a heavy 8 and his fifth fish a 9 pound 04 oz Hawg he had two 9 pound one 8 and 3 sevens for his first day on the lake with the others in the 4 to 5 pound range.Bernard still got two more days of fishing tomorrow is going to be a great day his on his best game and his loving it!!!!!
